James has 20 years’ experience as an economist in government, consulting and the financial services industry.
James has a wide range of expertise including, macroeconomic forecasting, trade policy, finance economics, benefit-cost analysis, private pension systems and tax policy. Prior to joining Equity Economics he was Chief Economist at the Financial Services Council.
In previous positions James was a senior manager in economics and policy at PricewaterhouseCoopers, senior economic advisor to Kevin Rudd and an economist in Macroeconomic Group at Treasury. James has also worked in economic, budget and industry analysis in two state treasury departments.
James is a regular contributor to Australian media, including opinion pieces in broadsheet papers and appearances on Sky Business.
James has a Bachelor of Economics with honours and a Masters of Public Policy from the Australian National University.
