Meet Alice Kemble,
Director, Social Policy and Community Development

Alice is a social policy reform and strategy expert, delivering community led solutions to complex and entrenched social and political issues facing Australia and internationally. She has extensive networks across government, the community and philanthropic sectors and is interested in bringing people together to achieve practical outcomes that deliver meaningful change, particularly for First Nations peoples and vulnerable communities.

Drawing from over fifteen years of significant government and non-government organisational experience, Alice has a deep understanding of how government works – budgets, legislation, policy, strategy, engagement – and uses this knowledge to support community led goals to address inequity.

Alice has played leadership roles in all major Australian government reforms in Indigenous Affairs over the last ten years, including as chief advisor to the previous Minister for Indigenous Affairs, and has a proven track record in supporting First Nations organisations negotiate with governments on new policies and programs to secure greater independence and better outcomes for their members and communities. Alice has also lived and worked in Papua New Guinea, supporting the Papua New Guinea government and local non-government organisations on economic and community development projects.

Alice completed a Bachelor of Nursing with First Class honours and currently lives in Timor Leste.

What is your favourite quote?

"Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." - Desmond Tutu

What is the best part about working at Equity?

Working with clients to have their voices heard in the policy making process of government.

What can clients expect from you?

A commitment to understanding the objectives and needs of an organisation and a partnership approach to determining next steps in helping them achieve their goals. I will bring innate knowledge of how government works combined with on the ground community work, so that the client's objectives are considered in future decision making. Clients can also expect comprehensive policy and strategy advice presented in a way that helps their organisation to make decisions and that can be used to build support from other stakeholders.
